right now I have him doing a ground pound when you give him bananas. he'll also help fight the zombies on his own (basic melees).

what are some other ideas? should he be invincible or should you eventually loose your furry friend to the zombies? (you release him from his cage round 4 and can survive without your help til round 15)

How about this, once you find his cage you need to find a banana to feed him. Feed him the banana and he gets out of his cage and chases the nearest zombie and does the ground pound move. He can take quite a bit of damage from the zombies before dying (as well as dish out a lot) and you get points for his kills). Then once he has taken a bunch of damage he runs back into his cage and then you need to find another banana that has spawned somewhere on the map in order to get him to come back out. His health and the damage he does should scale with the round to make him useful for the whole game.

It would be really cool if he did a lot of the stuff that Leroy does when you feed Leroy candy, except with bananas, for example: change powerups, move box, lock down box, fight zombies, keep a crawler, etc.

So he should basically behave like the guy from buried?
