hi all, I saw some of these Christmas maps with ice and its reflective can some tell me how I would go about doing that please?. thanks i.e I want to make reflective ice and glass

ive seen it on a Christmas map I just cant think which one.

while in assman and converting the material go down to

and play with them settings thats how i have found to do it and works a treat

That looks like the oil slick, modified... or covered with a terrain patch with the alpha adjusted...

It's one of the water-textures and the terrain is slightly adjusted.

I applied a white .tga to my colt (in specular map in asset manager) and its still as black as before.. (and yes I turned on specular map, and I included the images). does it require a normal map aswell to make it work?

It's neither. To make it nice and shiny you'll need a cosine powermap:

Yet specmaps and normalmaps are recommended too.
